About the role

We are seeking a Research Data Analyst to support the data systems, analyses, and visualizations for several nationwide projects focused on young people's access to creative activity and their later trajectories in the creative sector. Reporting to WolfBrown's Database Specialist and Process Manager, this person will keep program data accurate, complete, and ready for analysis. A critical part of the job is creating visualizations for reports to clients. They will also turn that data into findings that inform the programs' local and national results.

We collaborate with stakeholders across the field to build a more equitable, pluralistic, and sustainable future for artists, organizations, and community ecosystems. Our team tackles some of the sector's most stubborn, long-term challenges, often in collaboration with innovative non-profit organizations, foundations, and government agencies.

Salary: $80,000 to $85,000 plus benefits, depending on skills and experience

Key responsibilities

Prepare and validate enrollment, placement, and supervisor data from participating organizations, perform bulk imports and updates, and build and maintain reports and list views within WolfBrown's existing Salesforce data model
Run routine data quality checks, flag exceptions, and resolve record-level issues
Clean, merge, and prepare survey data across multiple waves for loading into WolfBrown's longitudinal research database
Maintain, troubleshoot, and extend existing Tableau dashboards, including adding views, filters, and calculated fields within established data sources
Research and resolve data issues raised by participating organizations, as assigned
Conduct quantitative analyses of program and survey data, including descriptive statistics, cross-tabulations, and statistical tests of change over time and differences between groups, and prepare analysis-ready data files for team members
Prepare interactive as well as static visualizations of select fields and combinations of fields to support reports and presentations
Collaborate with other members of the team to integrate qualitative data to enrich the quantitative data
Keep process documentation and procedures current
Contribute to the data and analysis sections of proposals, reports, and manuscripts, and support literature reviews across the Creative Opportunities practice

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred, with coursework in data analytics, statistics, quantitative methods, or another quantitatively focused social science field
At least one year of hands-on Salesforce experience in a data management or reporting capacity, including objects, records, reports, and data imports
At least one year building or maintaining Tableau dashboards, including calculated fields and filters
Applied knowledge of statistical methods, including descriptive and inferential statistics (e.g., regression, significance testing), and of the fundamentals of research design
Close attention to detail, a disciplined approach to following, documenting, and improving data procedures, and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Proficiency in Python or R for data cleaning, transformation, and analysis, including merging and reshaping datasets across multiple files and collection waves
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate analysis into clear findings for both technical and non-technical audiences
Commitment to equity, access, and inclusion in the arts and cultural sector

Preferred experience

Working knowledge of SQL and relational data concepts
Experience with longitudinal or multi-wave data, including merging data across years and modes of data collection
Demonstrated evidence of visualizations for reports that provide convincing and simple examples of findings
Familiarity with IRB procedures and human subjects research protocols
Experience with program evaluation or social science research in arts, culture, education, youth development, or nonprofit settings
